Methods or Types of Hair Transplant (FUT or FUE)

FUT and FUE

There is no better solution than hair transplantation while hair fall becomes a nightmare. People who are suffering from severe hair loss go for this as this is the only procedure to restore the crowning glory. And the transplanted hair looks natural and beautiful. But before you go through the experience of proper plantation you have to know different techniques and methods of the process.

The trichologists use two different methods to extract and transplant a large number of hair follicles. The unit is measured by follicles and hence called Follicular Unit (FU). There are two primary techniques for the treatments- the FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) and the FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation). And the main difference between these two methods is the types of hair follicle of the donor.

What is Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT)?

The patient needs to remove small strips of hair from the back portion of the head for investigating the hair type before implanting when the hair physicians suggest the Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT). The hair follicles are harvested from the strips by the hair expert team at the clinical. In most of the cases, FUT is allowed the greatest number of implant that can be done in a single session for recovery of the hair in a short period of time.

Advantages of FUT methods:

  • Most areas of baldness can be cured in fewer sittings.
  • The resection rate (the implant that gets cut while removing) may be lessened and this provides superior results. Of course, the reaction rate depends on the skill of the trichologist and his or her staffs.

What is Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)?

In the process of FUT hair transplanting each and every follicle unit is taken from the scalp and no tissues are removed in this technique. Since follicles are removed once, fewer follicles are harvested during the session of transplanting. FUE is the best option while you want to implant a small section on your scalp. FUE is a constantly developing process. Once it was utilised in smaller cases but now is also used in larger cases. People who choose FUE method have an option of splitting the treatment into two days. This helps with faster recovery.

Advantages of FUE methods:

  • As in this type of transplantation the entire strip of the scalp from the back side of the head need not be used like FUT method, there are no cuts or injuries on the scalp.
  • As there are no cuts, naturally, no stitches are involved.
  • The recovery time is quicker than the time taken in FUT method. Patients often can go home to the next day.
  • No visible lines of scars are there.

Before experiencing any of these methods, be acquainted with the experts. Follow the rules properly and take the right step after seeking expert advice.
